Can I be an Arborist?
What is an Arborist and can I be one? Any one can be an Arborist. So how can I be an Arborist? Once you have completed your training, you can care and maintain trees just like an Arborist does.
All Arborists have different levels of qualifications, skills and they begin at Level 2.
That person can increase there levels by 1 with further study and experience until they have achieved Level 5. Although it is possible to achieve Level 5 by study alone. The course can take some years to complete.
What is a Consulting Arborist
A Level 5 Arborist is also know as a Consulting Arborist.
Consulting Arborists can inspect trees whilst standing on the ground. Once the tree has been assessed, the tree can then be treated with some pruning, use of fertilisers or if necessary, removing the tree completely if the tree is dangerous. Some trees require inspections by a Climbing Arborist. This arborist climbs the tree and does his/her assessment whilst moving around the tree. He/She bases his/her assessment upon what he/she finds in the tree.
The Tree House Adventures has two arborists. Stephen the Tree Surgeon is an Australian AQF5 Arborist. This is the highest qualification and he is able to assess trees and write reports from the ground. Stephen assesses all trees and then advises Mad Matt of the outcome. Mad Matt is also an arborist. He is a Level 3 Arborist and he does all the climbing around the tree. He prunes damaged or dangerous branches and sometimes has to remove the tree completely. Mad Matt is also a Climbing Arborist and does assessment of trees whilst climbing around the tree.
The Tree House Adventures is based around a tree maintenance company called Branch Management. For more information about Branch Management and the team check out our website.
